RALEIGH — It pays to have friends, even if you have to pay to get them. That's the lesson I've learned from watching the steamrollering of residential electricity consumers by the electric utilities as the companies have pushed for the passage of Senate Bill 3.

(7.30.07) Senate should ban blank bills
DURHAM — The General Assembly should get rid of the bizarre legislative practice known as "blank bills." Blank bills are legislation introduced into the General Assembly with a vague title and no text, giving the bill's sponsor the power to add information later.
