(5.16.08) Cost of new jobs: $180 million
RALEIGH— Spirit AeroSystems may receive more than $180 million to open an aircraft component factory in the Global TransPark near Kinston. Because the area does not have the infrastructure or the manpower to be competitive, the state will do the investing.

(5.14.08) Shadow taxes denied
RALEIGH — The land transfer tax's resounding defeat in politically progressive Orange County sent a message our political leaders too often refuse to hear -- stop hiding behind shadow taxes. These taxes attempt to demonize and then punish a small group.

(5.13.08) Annexation moratorium
FAYETTEVILLE — If a proposed statewide involuntary annexation moratorium comes to be, it will serve no obvious purpose. The pros and cons of involuntary annexation are defined and stark. By not taking a stance on the issue, the state is just side stepping the issue.
